– Solution Overview.

Development and upgrade of existing systems working with normal concept of using an RTU to monitor and control electrical substations to developed new system based on NI CompactRIO, having the CompactRIO as a remote terminal unit, sending substation data over 3G modem to central control room, with IEC-104 over Ethernet protocol to provide more features and added value to existing systems.

– Integration with NI Grid Automation System

Decisions from the control room that rely on information gathered from the grid are limited by the capabilities of deployed instrumentation. With the Grid Automation System, capabilities can change as the needs of the grid change. Full access to the streaming waveform data is available for inline processing, online monitoring, and storage on the device. Grid Automation System can be programmed to intelligently select which data to monitor, store, or transmit to reduce storage and bandwidth requirements. The analog input channels that are designed for potential transformer and current transformer inputs use high-speed, high-resolution converters that sample at up to 1,000 samples per cycle with 24 bits of resolution.

  • Measurement and control of feeder and transformers signals as well as monitoring and control of substation alarms in Real-Time
  • Custom developed real-time software based on LabVIEW, LabVIEW Real-Time Module and IEC60870-5 for CompactRIO sending acquired data over Ethernet to the master station.
  • Integration with existing Siemens SINAUT Software
  • Power Quality Analysis and Presentation
  • More flexible, easily configurable system, scalability to add and change inputs and outputs, faster processing with CompactRIO, avoided overheating problem with existing systems as the CompactRIO works up to 70 Degrees Celsius, this is high demand for remote areas weather conditions.
  • Scalable platform to add and change inputs and outputs, faster processing with CompactRIO, avoiding overheating problems with existing systems as the CompactRIO and other panel components works up to 70 Degrees Celsius, this is high demand for remote areas weather conditions.
